Ancient Greece Breeded the Motivational Speaker
Many historians agree that the art of speaking and rhetoric was developed in Ancient Greece. The skills and theories developed at that time contribute to the current ideas of a motivational speaker. The theory of rhetoric, which is the art of persuasive speech, originated during this time period. The philosopher Aristotle is most often credited with the development of this study through his books, which divided the theory into three categories: deliberative rhetoric, epideictic rhetoric, and judicial rhetoric. Each distinct category can be used by motivational speakers today depending upon their intended audience.
