The differences between a motivational speaker and inspirational speaker
Many conference organizers and event relations people are confused by all the terminology of the speaking industry and sometimes book the wrong type motivational speaker for an event. Although some qualities overlap between a top hired motivational speaker and regularly booked inspirational speaker, they each have their own unique style and content. A motivational speaker usually have a main focus on the "laws" or "principals" of success and the relating message that he want to bring across to the audience. The inspirational speaker tendency leans more towards the telling of stories about the past or theme-weaving experiences designed to touch people with inspiring life happenings. The occurrence of "hype" is more prevalent with the motivational speaker's profession. The wrong professional on the wrong stage can be a disaster. A conference can really loose power like a car on old spark plugs if the wrong speaker is on the podium. If you want people to take home a certain key message and learn from the so-called gurus of motivation or inspiration, be sure to choose well. Success on the conference scene is made up of various components, such as the planning, food, structure, entertainment, sound and then hopefully your motivational speaker's choice. Or inspirational speaker selection. Don't step into the trap and be ashamed to look your manager in the eyes afterwards because you didn't do your homework beforehand. Invite a great inspirational speaker who is well known in the industry and not a fly-by-night character (and there are many of them). Also check if the topic will relate to your group of people and where they are at. You can and should book a motivational speaker or inspirational speaker!
