Memory plays an important part, even in presentation skills learning. There is no problems to use notes, but do at least the opening and the end without the help of notes. Whether you need to get your presentation skills sharpened in South Africa or brush up on communication skills in London, some of the tips always remain the same. If you use PowerPoint, please don't read your whole presentation from the slides. People want to listen to you and not read slides with you like parrots. Some presenters prefer prompt cards and find them extremely useful even in business presentations, but it's really a matter of personal preference. If you do use them though, they should be used with discretion, and never so that it is blatantly obvious that you are referring to them. There are instances where reading a speech from a script is obligatory, for example when the speech has been written for you and it has to be given at short notice, but even then it should not look as if you are reading from prepared notes. Whenever such circumstances prevail, never fail to keep good eye contact with your audience. This will always remain one of the fundamental basics of good old fashioned South African presentation skills in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban or Cape Town. It's rather like giving a speech in front of a television camera, when you must look at the camera. An audience expects you to look at them. It conveys a sense of open two-way communication. If you want to take your presentation skills level to new heights, you are welcome to attend one of our workshops.
